Verse (30:9), Word 28 - Quranic Grammar

The 28th word of verse (30:9) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A particle of purpose, verb and object pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is ẓā lām mīm (ظ ل م). The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Verse (30:9)

The analysis above refers to the ninth verse of chapter 30 (sūrat l-rūm):

Sahih International: Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.
