Verse (30:9), Word 16 - Quranic Grammar

The sixteenth word of verse (30:9) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The form IV perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is thā wāw rā (ث و ر). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Verse (30:9)

The analysis above refers to the ninth verse of chapter 30 (sūrat l-rūm):

Sahih International: Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed the earth and built it up more than they have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allah would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.
