Verse (2:99), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (2:99) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, emphatic prefix and particle of certainty. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis.
