Verse (2:63), Word 4 - Quranic Grammar

The fourth word of verse (2:63) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is rā fā ʿayn (ر ف ع). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: And [recall] when We took your covenant, [O Children of Israel, to abide by the Torah] and We raised over you the mount, [saying], "Take what We have given you with determination and remember what is in it that perhaps you may become righteous."
