Verse (2:173), Word 19 - Quranic Grammar

The nineteenth word of verse (2:173) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A result particle and negative particle. The result particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate the result of a condition. The negative particle acts like the particle anna (أن). This particle belongs to a special group of words known as inna and her sisters (ان واخواتها).

Verse (2:173)

The analysis above refers to the 173rd verse of chapter 2 (sūrat l-baqarah):

Sahih International: He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit], there is no sin upon him. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
