Verse (2:150), Word 27 - Quranic Grammar

The 27th word of verse (2:150) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, particle of purpose and verb. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The form IV imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is first person singular and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is tā mīm mīm (ت م م).

Sahih International: And from wherever you go out [for prayer], turn your face toward al-Masjid al-haram. And wherever you [believers] may be, turn your faces toward it in order that the people will not have any argument against you, except for those of them who commit wrong; so fear them not but fear Me. And [it is] so I may complete My favor upon you and that you may be guided.
