Verse (2:144), Word 21 - Quranic Grammar

The 21st word of verse (2:144) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A resumption particle and accusative particle. The connective particle wa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The accusative particle belongs to a special group of words known as inna and her sisters (ان واخواتها).

Verse (2:144)

The analysis above refers to the 144th verse of chapter 2 (sūrat l-baqarah):

Sahih International: We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-haram. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it [in prayer]. Indeed, those who have been given the Scripture well know that it is the truth from their Lord. And Allah is not unaware of what they do.
