Verse (2:130), Word 5 - Quranic Grammar

__

The fifth word of verse (2:130) is a masculine proper noun and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The case marker is a fatḥah instead of a kasrah because the proper noun is a diptote (ممنوع من الصرف).

Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow)

(2:130:5)
ib'rāhīma
(of) Ibrahim
PN – genitive masculine proper noun → Ibrahim اسم علم مجرور بالفتحة بدلاً من الكسرة لأنه ممنوع من الصرف

Verse (2:130)

The analysis above refers to the 130th verse of chapter 2 (sūrat l-baqarah):

Sahih International: And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself. And We had chosen him in this world, and indeed he, in the Hereafter, will be among the righteous.
