Verse (28:25), Word 10 - Quranic Grammar

The tenth word of verse (28:25) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A particle of purpose, verb and object pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is jīm zāy yā (ج ز ي). Sahih International: Then one of the two women came to him walking with shyness. She said, "Indeed, my father invites you that he may reward you for having watered for us." So when he came to him and related to him the story, he said, "Fear not. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people."
