Verse (26:139), Word 2 - Quranic Grammar

The second word of verse (26:139) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The form IV perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is hā lām kāf (ه ل ك). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person masculine plural.

Sahih International: And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
