Verse (24:53), Word 7 - Quranic Grammar

The seventh word of verse (24:53) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and emphatic suffix. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is khā rā jīm (خ ر ج). The suffixed emphatic particle is known as the nūn of emphasis (نون التوكيد).

Sahih International: And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if you ordered them, they would go forth [in Allah 's cause]. Say, "Do not swear. [Such] obedience is known. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with that which you do."
