Verse (21:79), Word 9 - Quranic Grammar

__

The ninth word of verse (21:79) is a proper noun in the genitive case (مجرور). The case marker is a fatḥah instead of a kasrah because the proper noun is a diptote (ممنوع من الصرف).

Chapter (21) sūrat l-anbiyāa (The Prophets)

(21:79:9)
dāwūda
Dawud
PN – genitive proper noun → David اسم علم مجرور بالفتحة بدلاً من الكسرة لأنه ممنوع من الصرف

Verse (21:79)

The analysis above refers to the 79th verse of chapter 21 (sūrat l-anbiyāa):

Sahih International: And We gave understanding of the case to Solomon, and to each [of them] We gave judgement and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains to exalt [Us], along with David and [also] the birds. And We were doing [that].

it would be better if you spell this as Dawood instead of Dawud, so that it would be grouped with the other references.
