Verse (17:59), Word 15 - Quranic Grammar

The fifteenth word of verse (17:59) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A resumption particle, verb and subject pronoun. The connective particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so" and is used to indicate a sequence of events. The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is ẓā lām mīm (ظ ل م). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.
