Verse (17:16), Word 13 - Quranic Grammar

The thirteenth word of verse (17:16) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The prefixed conjunction fa is usually translated as "and". The form II perfect verb (فعل ماض) is first person plural. The verb's triliteral root is dāl mīm rā (د م ر). The suffix (نا) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person feminine singular.

Verse (17:16)

Sahih International: And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its affluent but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word comes into effect upon it, and We destroy it with [complete] destruction.
