Verse (16:45), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (16:45) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An interrogative alif, supplemental particle and verb. The prefixed alif is an interrogative particle used to form a question and is usually translated as "is", "are", or "do". The supplemental particle fa is usually translated as "then" or "so". The perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is hamza mīm nūn (أ م ن).
