Verse (14:3), Word 11 - Quranic Grammar

The eleventh word of verse (14:3) is divided into 4 morphological segments. A conjunction, verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is bā ghayn yā (ب غ ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is third person feminine singular.

Sahih International: The ones who prefer the worldly life over the Hereafter and avert [people] from the way of Allah , seeking to make it (seem) deviant. Those are in extreme error.
