Verse (14:1), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

Verse 1 of chapter 14 begins with the Quranic initials alif lām rā (ا ل ر). These are sequences of letters that occur at the start of certain chapters in the Quran. In Arabic these are known as the disconnected or shortened letters (حروف مقطعة).
