Verse (14:10), Word 10 - Quranic Grammar

The tenth word of verse (14:10) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A particle of purpose and verb. The prefixed particle lām is used to indicate the purpose of an action and makes the following verb subjunctive. The imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is third person masculine singular and is in the subjunctive mood (منصوب). The verb's triliteral root is ghayn fā rā (غ ف ر).

Sahih International: Their messengers said, "Can there be doubt about Allah , Creator of the heavens and earth? He invites you that He may forgive you of your sins, and He delays your death for a specified term." They said, "You are not but men like us who wish to avert us from what our fathers were worshipping. So bring us a clear authority."
