Verse (13:18), Word 18 - Quranic Grammar

The eighteenth word of verse (13:18) is divided into 3 morphological segments. An emphatic prefix, verb and subject pronoun. The prefixed particle lām is usually translated as "surely" or "indeed" and is used to add emphasis. The form VIII perfect verb (فعل ماض) is third person masculine plural. The verb's triliteral root is fā dāl yā (ف د ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun.

Sahih International: For those who have responded to their Lord is the best [reward], but those who did not respond to Him - if they had all that is in the earth entirely and the like of it with it, they would [attempt to] ransom themselves thereby. Those will have the worst account, and their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the resting place.
