Verse (12:89), Word 6 - Quranic Grammar

__

The sixth word of verse (12:89) is divided into 2 morphological segments. A preposition and proper noun. The prefixed preposition bi is usually translated as "with" or "by". The proper noun is masculine and is in the genitive case (مجرور). The case marker is a fatḥah instead of a kasrah because the proper noun is a diptote (ممنوع من الصرف). Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).
