Verse (11:20), Word 15 - Quranic Grammar

The fifteenth word of verse (11:20) is a passive form III imperfect verb (فعل مضارع). The verb is third person masculine singular and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is ḍād ʿayn fā (ض ع ف).

Verse (11:20)

The analysis above refers to the twentieth verse of chapter 11 (sūrat hūd):

Sahih International: Those were not causing failure [to Allah] on earth, nor did they have besides Allah any protectors. For them the punishment will be multiplied. They were not able to hear, nor did they see.
