Verse (11:123), Word 1 - Quranic Grammar

The first word of verse (11:123) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A conjunction, preposition and proper noun. The prefixed conjunction wa is usually translated as "and". The prefixed preposition lām is usually translated as "for". The proper noun is in the genitive case (مجرور). The proper noun's triliteral root is hamza lām hā (أ ل ه). Together the segments form a preposition phrase known as jār wa majrūr (جار ومجرور).

Sahih International: And to Allah belong the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth and to Him will be returned the matter, all of it, so worship Him and rely upon Him. And your Lord is not unaware of that which you do.
