Verse (10:39), Word 17 - Quranic Grammar

The seventeenth word of verse (10:39) is a perfect verb (فعل ماض). The verb is third person masculine singular. The verb's triliteral root is kāf wāw nūn (ك و ن). The verb (كان) belongs to a special group of words known as kāna and her sisters (كان واخواتها).

Sahih International: Rather, they have denied that which they encompass not in knowledge and whose interpretation has not yet come to them. Thus did those before them deny. Then observe how was the end of the wrongdoers.
