Verse (61:5), Word 7 - Quranic Grammar

The seventh word of verse (61:5) is divided into 3 morphological segments. A verb, subject pronoun and object pronoun. The form IV imperfect verb (فعل مضارع) is second person masculine plural and is in the indicative mood (مرفوع). The verb's triliteral root is hamza dhāl yā (أ ذ ي). The suffix (الواو) is an attached subject pronoun. The attached object pronoun is first person singular.

Verse (61:5)

The analysis above refers to the fifth verse of chapter 61 (sūrat l-ṣaf):

Sahih International: And [mention, O Muhammad], when Moses said to his people, "O my people, why do you harm me while you certainly know that I am the messenger of Allah to you?" And when they deviated, Allah caused their hearts to deviate. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
