Chapter (80) sūrat ʿabasa (He frowned)

Sahih International: But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified

Pickthall: What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)

Yusuf Ali: But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?-

Shakir: And what would make you know that he would purify himself,

Muhammad Sarwar: You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself,

Mohsin Khan: But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)?

Arberry: And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him,
