Chapter (52) sūrat l-ṭūr (The Mount)

Sahih International: They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah].

Pickthall: Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious;

Yusuf Ali: They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people.

Shakir: Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families:

Muhammad Sarwar: saying, "We were afraid while in the world.

Mohsin Khan: Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah).

Arberry: They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear,
