Verse (40:52) - English Translation

Chapter (40) sūrat ghāfir (The Forgiver God)

Sahih International: The Day their excuse will not benefit the wrongdoers, and they will have the curse, and they will have the worst home.

Pickthall: The day when their excuse availeth not the evil-doers, and theirs is the curse, and theirs the ill abode.

Yusuf Ali: The Day when no profit will it be to Wrong-doers to present their excuses, but they will (only) have the Curse and the Home of Misery.

Shakir: The day on which their excuse shall not benefit the unjust, and for them is curse and for them is the evil abode.

Muhammad Sarwar: The excuses of the unjust will be of no benefit to them on that day. They will be condemned to live in a most terrible abode.

Mohsin Khan: The Day when their excuses will be of no profit to Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah). Theirs will be the curse, and theirs will be the evil abode (i.e. painful torment in Hell-fire).

Arberry: upon the day when their excuses shall not profit the evildoers, and theirs shall be the curse, and theirs the evil abode.
