The triliteral root khā wāw nūn (خ و ن) occurs 16 times in the Quran, in six derived forms:

  • five times as the form I verb khānu (خَانُ)
  • twice as the form VIII verb yakhtānu (يَخْتَانُ)
  • twice as the nominal khawwān (خَوَّان)
  • twice as the noun khiyānat (خِيَانَة)
  • three times as the active participle khāinīn (خَآئِنِين)
  • twice as the active participle khāinat (خَآئِنَة)

Verb (form I) - to betray

(8:27:5) takhūnūbetray يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَخُونُوا اللَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ
(8:27:8) watakhūnūor betray وَتَخُونُوا أَمَانَاتِكُمْ وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ
