Quran Dictionary - خ و ل

The triliteral root khā wāw lām (خ و ل) occurs eight times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • three times as the form II verb khawwala (خَوَّلَ)
  • twice as the noun khāl (خَال)
  • three times as the noun khālāt (خَٰلَٰت)

Verb (form II) - to bestow

(6:94:10) khawwalnākumWe bestowed (on) you وَتَرَكْتُمْ مَا خَوَّلْنَاكُمْ وَرَاءَ ظُهُورِكُمْ
(39:8:11) khawwalahuHe bestows on him ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلَهُ نِعْمَةً مِنْهُ نَسِيَ مَا كَانَ يَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ مِنْ قَبْلُ
(39:49:8) khawwalnāhuWe bestow (on) him ثُمَّ إِذَا خَوَّلْنَاهُ نِعْمَةً مِنَّا قَالَ إِنَّمَا أُوتِيتُهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ
