The triliteral root ṣād dāl yā (ص د ي) occurs twice in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • once as the form V verb taṣaddā (تَصَدَّىٰ)
  • once as the form II verbal noun taṣdiyat (تَصْدِيَة)

(80:6:3) taṣaddāgive attention فَأَنْتَ لَهُ تَصَدَّىٰ

(8:35:8) wataṣdiyatanand clapping وَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَاءً وَتَصْدِيَةً
