The triliteral root ḥā fā wāw (ح ف و) occurs three times in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • once as the form IV verb yuḥ'fi (يُحْفِ)
  • twice as the noun ḥafiyy (حَفِيّ)

(47:37:3) fayuḥ'fikumand press you إِنْ يَسْأَلْكُمُوهَا فَيُحْفِكُمْ تَبْخَلُوا وَيُخْرِجْ أَضْغَانَكُمْ
