The triliteral root zāy yā tā (ز ي ت) occurs seven times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • once as the noun zayt (زَيْت)
  • five times as the noun zaytūn (زَّيْتُون)
  • once as the noun zaytūnat (زَيْتُونَة)
