The triliteral root khā rā ṣād (خ ر ص) occurs five times in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • four times as the form I verb yakhruṣu (يَخْرُصُ)
  • once as the noun kharrāṣūn (خَرَّٰصُون)

Verb (form I) - to guess, to lie

(6:116:18) yakhruṣūnaguess إِنْ يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ
(6:148:37) takhruṣūnaguess إِنْ تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَإِنْ أَنْتُمْ إِلَّا تَخْرُصُونَ
(10:66:25) yakhruṣūnaguess إِنْ يَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا الظَّنَّ وَإِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَخْرُصُونَ
