The triliteral root sīn ḥā tā (س ح ت) occurs four times in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • once as the form IV verb yus'ḥita (يُسْحِتَ)
  • three times as the noun suḥ't (سُّحْت)

Verb (form IV) - to destroy

(20:61:10) fayus'ḥitakumlest He will destroy you لَا تَفْتَرُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ كَذِبًا فَيُسْحِتَكُمْ بِعَذَابٍ

(5:42:4) lilssuḥ'tiof the forbidden سَمَّاعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ أَكَّالُونَ لِلسُّحْتِ
