The triliteral root rā ghayn bā (ر غ ب) occurs eight times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • four times as the form I verb yarghabu (يَرْغَبُ)
  • once as the noun raghab (رَغَب)
  • three times as the active participle rāghib (رَاغِب)

Verb (form I) - to desire, to prefer

(2:130:2) yarghabuwill turn away وَمَنْ يَرْغَبُ عَنْ مِلَّةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِلَّا مَنْ سَفِهَ نَفْسَهُ
(4:127:22) watarghabūnaand you desire وَتَرْغَبُونَ أَنْ تَنْكِحُوهُنَّ وَالْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الْوِلْدَانِ
