Quran Dictionary - ق ن ط

The triliteral root qāf nūn ṭā (ق ن ط) occurs six times in the Quran, in three derived forms:

  • four times as the form I verb qanaṭu (قَنَطُ)
  • once as the noun qanūṭ (قَنُوط)
  • once as the active participle qāniṭīn (قَٰنِطِين)

Verb (form I) - to despair

(15:56:3) yaqnaṭudespairs قَالَ وَمَنْ يَقْنَطُ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّهِ إِلَّا الضَّالُّونَ
(30:36:15) yaqnaṭūnadespair وَإِنْ تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٌ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ إِذَا هُمْ يَقْنَطُونَ
(39:53:8) taqnaṭūdespair لَا تَقْنَطُوا مِنْ رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ جَمِيعًا
(42:28:8) qanaṭūthey have despaired وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا قَنَطُوا وَيَنْشُرُ رَحْمَتَهُ

Noun
