The triliteral root nūn sīn lām (ن س ل) occurs four times in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • twice as the form I verb yansilu (يَنسِلُ)
  • twice as the noun nasl (نَسْل)

Verb (form I) - to descend, to hasten

(21:96:10) yansilūnadescend وَهُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ حَدَبٍ يَنْسِلُونَ
(36:51:10) yansilūna[they] will hasten وَنُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ فَإِذَا هُمْ مِنَ الْأَجْدَاثِ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَنْسِلُونَ

Noun

(2:205:10) wal-naslaand progeny وَإِذَا تَوَلَّىٰ سَعَىٰ فِي الْأَرْضِ لِيُفْسِدَ فِيهَا وَيُهْلِكَ الْحَرْثَ وَالنَّسْلَ
