The triliteral root lām ḥā qāf (ل ح ق) occurs six times in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • twice as the form I verb yalḥaqu (يَلْحَقُ)
  • four times as the form IV verb alḥaq (أَلْحَقْ)

Verb (form I) - to join

(3:170:10) yalḥaqūyet joined وَيَسْتَبْشِرُونَ بِالَّذِينَ لَمْ يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ مِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ
(62:3:4) yalḥaqūjoined وَآخَرِينَ مِنْهُمْ لَمَّا يَلْحَقُوا بِهِمْ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ

Verb (form IV) - to join

(12:101:20) wa-alḥiq'nīand join me تَوَفَّنِي مُسْلِمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
(26:83:5) wa-alḥiq'nīand join me رَبِّ هَبْ لِي حُكْمًا وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ
(34:27:4) alḥaqtumyou have joined قُلْ أَرُونِيَ الَّذِينَ أَلْحَقْتُمْ بِهِ شُرَكَاءَ كَلَّا
(52:21:6) alḥaqnāWe will join وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاتَّبَعَتْهُمْ ذُرِّيَّتُهُمْ بِإِيمَانٍ أَلْحَقْنَا بِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ
