The triliteral root bā qāf yā (ب ق ي) occurs 21 times in the Quran, in eight derived forms:

  • three times as the form I verb baqiya (بَقِىَ)
  • once as the form IV verb tub'qī (تُبْقِى)
  • seven times as the noun abqā (أَبْقَىٰٓ)
  • three times as the noun baqiyyat (بَقِيَّت)
  • once as the active participle bāq (بَاق)
  • twice as the active participle bāqiyāt (بَٰقِيَٰت)
  • twice as the active participle bāqīn (بَاقِين)
  • twice as the active participle bāqiyat (بَاقِيَة)

(2:278:8) baqiyaremained يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وَذَرُوا مَا بَقِيَ مِنَ الرِّبَا
(53:51:3) abqāHe spared وَثَمُودَ فَمَا أَبْقَىٰ
(55:27:1) wayabqāBut will remain وَيَبْقَىٰ وَجْهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ
