Quran Dictionary - ط و ي

The triliteral root ṭā wāw yā (ط و ي) occurs five times in the Quran, in four derived forms:

  • once as the form I verb naṭwī (نَطْوِى)
  • twice as the noun ṭuwan (طُوًى)
  • once as the noun ṭa (طَىّ)
  • once as the passive participle maṭwiyyāt (مَطْوِيَّٰت)

(21:104:2) naṭwīWe will fold يَوْمَ نَطْوِي السَّمَاءَ كَطَيِّ السِّجِلِّ لِلْكُتُبِ
