The triliteral root shīn yā dāl (ش ي د) occurs twice in the Quran, in two derived forms:

  • once as the passive participle mashīd (مَّشِيد)
  • once as the form II passive participle mushayyadat (مُّشَيَّدَة)

(22:45:14) mashīdinlofty فَهِيَ خَاوِيَةٌ عَلَىٰ عُرُوشِهَا وَبِئْرٍ مُعَطَّلَةٍ وَقَصْرٍ مَشِيدٍ

Passive participle (form II)

(4:78:9) mushayyadatinlofty أَيْنَمَا تَكُونُوا يُدْرِكْكُمُ الْمَوْتُ وَلَوْ كُنْتُمْ فِي بُرُوجٍ مُشَيَّدَةٍ
