قوله «وثمود» اسم معطوف على «عاد» مجرورة بالفتحة؛ لأنه ممنوع من الصرف للعلمية والتأنيث، «الذين» نعت، «بالواد» اسم مجرور بالكسرة المقدرة على الياء المحذوفة، الجار «بالواد» متعلق بـ«جابوا».
