جملة «أهم خير» مستأنفة، «أم» عاطفة متصلة، «قوم» اسم معطوف على «هم»، «والذين» اسم معطوف على «قوم»، وجملة «أهلكناهم» حالية من ضمير الصلة، والتقدير: والذين استقروا من قبلهم مُهْلَكين. وجملة «إنهم كانوا» حالية من الهاء في «أهلكناهم».
